Summery: This news article writes about the protests that are currently happening in France. It all started because the protestors disagreed with President Emmanuel Macron's decision to increase the retirement age by two years. However, this article would focus more on how the garbage collectors protest by leaving uncollected trash in the street. This is quite a huge problem for Paris since it affects both the people who live there by blocking doorways or pavements and the tourists who visit Paris by causing the rotting scent of garbage. Apart from that, it also includes how unions are planning nationwide marches and strikes to pressure the government to withdraw the retirement measure.
Reaction: After I read this article, I feel like I can relate to all the workers. If I imagined myself about to graduate from high school and then suddenly having to study at my high school for another two years, I would be angry too, since I already prepared myself to leave my high school life. Of course, it is not the same situation as retirement; however, I believe people who have been working for half of their lives would be more frustrated than me, even though there are many countries that have higher retirement age than France. On the other hand, hopefully there is a good reason for his decision. I suppose it relates to the financial or economic situation in France.
Questions: 1. Is there any better way than protesting to make your voice heard?
2. Can people's needs damage a country?

Wow, This is a really good topic to focus on. I personally do not want to work for two more years either. However, I am sure that the french government has a reasonable reason making this decision. I wonder what it is.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, You wrote this blog really good. Easily understandable.
