Title: Iran probes 'deliberate' poisoning of schoolgirls across the country.

My critical questions:
As I was reading through the news article again. The
headline and the article have shown me how Iranian women are treated
differently and aren't equal to men, to the point where there are people who
don't want females to access education and female students have to protest for
their rights. After I finished reading this news article, another question came
to mind: "Is there any important information that got left
out? How would you find what is missing?" These questions
made me realize that the author only writes about how schoolgirls across
the country were affected by the poison and about the protest for women's
rights in Iran. However, are there really only schoolgirls who got affected?
How about the boy students? Later, I searched for more sources from other news
websites, such as "Le Monde," and found that they also included boy
students that got affected by the poison too. This proves to me that the author
might have some slight bias toward men in Iran. So my next question is, "What
is the key point of the news?" In my opinion, maybe the author
wants to be the voice for Iranian women and wrote this article to make the
reader aware of how badly women were treated in Iran but left out some
information to make it seem more exaggerated so people who read it would want
to side with Iranian women protesting. Lastly, "What kind of images were used in
the article?" There are two images that are used in this article.
The first picture shows a woman who has turned her back and raised her hand,
making it clear that she is protesting, and the second picture is a picture of
Iranian schoolgirls. Both of these pictures focus on women, which makes
me believe that my opinion is correct.
Hi Kitty, very good explanation, I see how critically thinking you are.
ReplyDeleteGood post, Kitty. Good examinations of your questions, especially about the boys being omitted from the article.
